Cove Cottages is a family run business that has been providing self-catering holiday cottages for three generations.
Cecile and Tom first rented out the cottages in the late 30’s / early 40s and took a hands on approach to this new enterprise which was designed to provide an income during their retirement. Little did they know the adventure they started would still be continuing today. The genuine relationships they developed with their guests are still evident, as some of those young children of the yesteryear are coming down to stay with us with their own (grown up) children and grandchildren.
When the time came, their daughter Kay and her husband Derek took onboard the family enterprise investing time and energy into the business. Kay’s son Nick now helps with the family business and between mother and son they continue to strive to look at ways to improve the cottages and the overall experience for their guests.
The cottages date from the early 1700s and were built to provide for the Harbour Master and to house the trade generated by St Agnes Harbour. The cottages remained central to this trade until the final demise of the harbour early in the 20th Century.
Today, the three comfortable and well-equipped holiday cottages are ideally positioned in the heart of a magnificent and popular cove. All have uninterrupted sea views and the sound of the surf drifts up from the beach at night like Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave.
All the holiday cottages are on a private road leading to the coastal footpath and overlook the dog friendly beach with stunning views of the sea, cliffs and coastline. Across the road steps lead down to the sandy beach of Trevaunance Cove with its rock pools and remains of the old harbour of St Agnes. Our summer flower displays and spectacular views even appear on local postcards of St Agnes!
